Sessions Court Grants Bail to Eight Lawyers Involved in Tis Hazari Firing Incident
The eight accused advocates were granted bail by Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Singh Rajawat after they had been in judicial custody for around 90 days. The case stems from an FIR registered at Subzi Mandi police station against the accused.
In a significant development in the Tis Hazari District Court firing incident, a sessions court in New Delhi granted bail to eight advocates on Thursday. The attorneys were arrested over their alleged involvement in the shooting that took place on the court premises during a clash between two groups of lawyers on July 5th. Police reports suggest shots were fired amidst this scuffle.
Magisterial Court Takes Cognisance

The development comes after a magisterial court acknowledged the charge sheet filed by Delhi Police regarding this case on September 3rd. Metropolitan Magistrate Chatinder Singh took cognizance of the matter and subsequently scheduled it for further hearing on October 17th, according to court sources.
Bail Granted to Eight Accused Advocates
Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Singh Rajawat granted bail to eight accused advocates identified as Shiv Ram Pandey, Lalit Sharma, Manish Sharma, Sachin Sangwan, Rahul Sharma, Ravi Gupta, Aman Singh and Jitesh Khari. They have been provided relief upon furnishing a bail bond of Rs 50,000 along with an equivalent surety amount.
Prolonged Judicial Custody & Pending Trial
The court noted that while the trial is yet to commence and will likely take considerable time; these accused individuals have already spent around 90 days in judicial custody since their arrest. Moreover, it was mentioned that the charge sheet pertaining to this case has already been submitted.
Origins of The Case
This entire legal proceeding stems from an FIR registered at Subzi Mandi police station against these eight accused following their alleged role in instigating violence and causing disruption within the Tis Hazari District Court premises back in July.
In conclusion, this development marks a significant milestone in the Tis Hazari court firing incident. The granting of bail to these eight accused advocates underscores the court's commitment to safeguarding individual rights while ensuring due process is followed. However, with the trial yet to commence and considering the gravity of charges levelled against them, it remains uncertain what course this case will take in future hearings. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for maintaining decorum within legal premises and upholding professional ethics among practicing lawyers.
