Union Minister Jitendra Singh Announces Separate Railway Division for Jammu to Enhance Connectivity

Jammu is set to have its own railway division, as confirmed by Union Minister Jitendra Singh. The railway ministry has approved this proposal, marking a significant development for the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is actively overseeing the enhancement of railway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. This move aims to strengthen the railway facilities and administrative framework in Jammu.

New Railway Division to Boost Jammus Infrastructure

Singh shared this update on X, highlighting that Jammu will soon become a crucial railway junction. This is particularly important as the Kashmir valley is poised to connect with the rest of India via rail for the first time. "Heartening news for #Jammu...Railways to set up exclusive Division Headquarter at Jammu," Singh stated in his post.

Railway Division Proposal

A delegation from the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by President Arun Gupta, proposed establishing a railway division headquarters in Jammu. Singh took this proposal to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. "I am glad to share the update that the Railway Ministry has accepted the proposal and initiated the process for the same," Singh, who represents Udhampur in Lok Sabha, mentioned.

The delegation's letter emphasized that granting divisional status to Jammu would not only streamline train operations but also create job opportunities for locals. Currently, Jammu falls under the Firozpur division of Northern Railway. This change is expected to bring significant benefits to this key pilgrimage town.

As Jammu prepares for this transformation, it stands on the brink of becoming a pivotal railway hub. The establishment of a separate railway division is anticipated to enhance connectivity and boost economic prospects in the region.
