Odisha Enhances Security for BJP's Oath Ceremony with Distinguished Guests
In a significant move to ensure the smooth conduct of the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the authorities have announced the deployment of 67 platoons of police. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, is set to witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, numerous Union Ministers, and chief ministers from states under BJP governance. An estimated crowd of 30,000 people is expected to gather at Janata Maidan for the ceremony.

The Odisha government has taken additional measures by declaring a half-day closure of its offices in Bhubaneswar from 1 pm on Wednesday to accommodate the event. Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda highlighted the comprehensive security arrangements in place, including at key locations such as the Bhubaneswar airport, Governor’s House, and Janata Maidan. The security detail encompasses three anti-terrorism squads, an Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) unit, a dog squad, and anti-sabotage teams. Furthermore, extensive checks are being conducted in various hotels as part of the security protocol.
Traffic restrictions will be implemented in several areas of the city to facilitate the orderly execution of the ceremony. This comes in the wake of the BJP's victory in the recent state Assembly election, securing 78 out of 147 seats, while the BJD won 51 seats.
In anticipation of the new government's commencement, the state has also revoked leave for all its employees until June 30. A notification from the revenue department and a circular from the general administration and public grievances department underscored the necessity for government officials to remain on standby for any urgent tasks that may arise during this period.
This strategic preparation underscores the importance of the swearing-in ceremony, not only as a pivotal moment for Odisha's political landscape but also as an event requiring meticulous planning and coordination to ensure safety and orderliness amidst high-profile attendance and public participation.
