Security Forces in Manipur Recover Starlink-like Device and Weapons During Search Operation
Security forces in Manipur have reportedly seized an internet device resembling Starlink, along with various weapons, from the Imphal East district. This discovery has led authorities to investigate how such equipment ended up in the conflict-ridden region. Starlink is not authorised to operate in India, and there is no official confirmation if the device is genuine.

The items were found during a search operation conducted on December 13 in Imphal East. The Dimapur-based Spear Corps shared images of the recovered items on X, showing the internet device with a Starlink logo and RPF/PLA inscriptions. The operation was a joint effort by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police across Churachandpur, Chandel, Imphal East, and Kagpokpi.
Weapons and Equipment Recovered
The Spear Corps reported that 29 weapons were seized during the operation. These included sniper rifles, automatic weapons, pistols, country-made mortars, single-barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition, and other military supplies. The range of weaponry highlights the seriousness of the security situation in the area.
In another post on X, Manipur Police detailed additional items recovered from Keirao Khunou in Imphal East. These included an MA4 assault rifle, a 12-bore gun, a 9 mm pistol, a .32 pistol, five hand grenades, five arming rings, two detonators, 30 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, an internet satellite antenna, and a router.
The presence of these sophisticated devices and weapons raises concerns about security and illegal activities in Manipur. Authorities are now focused on tracing the origins of these items to prevent further incidents. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover how such advanced technology reached this troubled region.
This significant recovery underscores the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace and order in Manipur. The collaboration between different agencies highlights their commitment to addressing these threats effectively. As investigations continue, authorities remain vigilant to ensure stability in the state.
