Section 163 in Place, Noida Gears Up for Alvida Jumma, Eid Celebrations
In light of upcoming festivals, including Alvida Jumma, Cheti Chand, and Eid-ul-Fitr, the Noida Police has enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) from March 28 to March 31, 2025. This four-day enforcement aims to ensure law and order during the celebrations, according to a statement from the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate.
Authorities have urged citizens to comply with the regulations to maintain a peaceful and safe environment. Given the expected large gatherings across the district, security measures have been heightened to prevent any untoward incidents. The police have also assured swift action against any violations.

Sambhal Police Restricts Alvida Jumma and Eid Prayers to Mosques and Eidgahs
Meanwhile, the Sambhal police have issued strict directives regarding Alvida Jumma and Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. They have mandated that prayers be conducted only within mosques and Eidgah premises, prohibiting gatherings on streets and rooftops.
Sambhal Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishna Kumar Bishnoi emphasized that clear instructions have been given to ensure compliance. To maintain security, 10 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and the Rapid Response Force (RRF) have been deployed at key locations, with their positioning adjusted as needed.
Tensions have remained high in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, since November 24 last year when violence erupted in the Kot Garvi locality during a survey of the Mughal-era Jama Masjid. The incident resulted in the deaths of four people due to gunfire, while several others, including police personnel, sustained injuries.
Understanding Eid-ul-Fitr: A Festival of Joy and Reflection
Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as Meethi Eid, is one of the most joyous celebrations in Islam, marking the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is a time for gratitude, reflection, and festive gatherings. Muslims worldwide observe the festival with prayers, feasts, and reunions with loved ones.
The date of Eid-ul-Fitr is determined by the Islamic lunar calendar, falling on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth Islamic month. Due to variations in crescent moon sightings, the festival is expected to take place on March 30 or March 31 in the Middle East and Western countries. However, in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other South Asian nations, Eid is likely to fall on March 31 or April 1, 2025.
