School Holidays Extended Due To Cold Wave: See Which States Have Revised Winter Breaks

Due to the ongoing cold wave, multiple states and cities have announced extensions to school winter vacations to protect students from extreme weather conditions, according to an NDTV report. Below is the updated list of regions where schools are closed or have adjusted schedules:

Ghaziabad

School Holidays Extended Due To Cold Wave

Schools in Ghaziabad for classes 1 to 8 will remain closed until January 18, in line with the orders of District Magistrate Indra Vikram Singh. This decision comes after the city experienced harsh cold weather.

Patna

In Patna, schools, Anganwadi centres, and pre-schools up to Class 8 will stay closed until January 15. However, for students in classes above 8, school hours have been shortened to 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, following instructions from the District Magistrate.

Rajasthan

Several districts in Rajasthan have extended holidays for students in classes 1 to 8 due to severe cold conditions. The changes are as follows:

Sawai Madhopur: Schools will be closed from January 13 to 16.
Rajsamand, Beawar, Pali, Jalore, Bharatpur, Deeg, Khairthal-Tijara: Schools will be closed on January 13 and 14.
Ajmer: Schools for classes up to 5 will remain closed on January 13 and 14.
Jodhpur: Schools will begin at 10:00 am on January 13 and 14, instead of 8:00 am.
Bikaner: Schools will operate from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Telangana

Intermediate students in Telangana will enjoy Sankranti holidays from January 11 to 16, as per the announcement by the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education.

Haryana

All private and government schools in Haryana will remain closed for winter vacations from January 1 to 15, according to the Directorate of School Education.

Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, all schools, up to Class 12, will remain closed until February 28, as announced by Minister of School Education Sakina Itoo.

These extended holidays aim to ensure the safety and well-being of students during the ongoing cold wave.
