School Holidays: Authorities Order To Shut Govt, Private Schools On March 19

This one-day holiday applies to schools, colleges, banks, and government offices, ensuring a complete shutdown of educational institutions and administrative services on this day.

Why is March 19 a Holiday?

The holiday has been declared in observance of Rangpanchami, a popular festival celebrated across Madhya Pradesh. The festival is especially significant in Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain, where large-scale celebrations take place.

In Indore, Rangpanchami is celebrated as Ger, a grand event where people gather on the streets to play Holi. Due to the massive crowds, vehicle entry is restricted in several parts of the city.

In Ujjain, the festival is marked by celebrations within the Mahakal temple complex, as well as in homes across the city.
