Delhi: 11-year-old school girl mowed down by speeding car
New Delhi, Mar 10: An 11-year-old girl was crushed to death by a speeding car in Dabri Mor area of West Delhi on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Shalini, a Class 6 student and a resident of Sagarpur near Janakpuri, police said.
The accident took place when the victim was on her way to school with her friends to appear in exams, they said.
Eyewitnesses said Shalini was walking towards the school with her friends when the speeding car hit her.
She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Her friends, however, had a narrow escape in the mishap.
Police have arrested the car's driver identified as Munish.
He was on his way to Uttam Nagar from Sagarpur when the accident occurred.
A case of rash and negligent driving causing death was registered against him, they said.
Her body was handed over to the family members after autopsy.
