Dangwimsai Pul wrote to the Chief Justice of India seeking an FIR into the allegations made by her late husband. She had also sought an independent probe.

In her letter she said prior permission from the CJI or a senior judge of the Supreme Court was needed before an FIR was registered. She also said for a probe to be conducted permission was required.

Pul, in a 60-page note written in Hindi made several allegations of corruption and named public figures. He had even named former and serving judges of the Supreme Court apart from politicians and law officers. One of the allegations made by him was that two judges had through a middleman demanded money from Pul to ensure that President's rule would not be declared illegal in Arunachal Pradesh. In 2016, the SC had quashed the imposition of President's rule in the state which resulted in the ouster of Pul and restoration of a Congress government.

On August 19, Pul was found at his official residence. A note titled mere vichar or My Views was also found at his home. In the note he wrote that he was under extreme pressure to pay bribes to judges and influential politicians.
