SC To Hear Patanjali Misleading Advt Case On Wednesday; Baba Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna Tender Apology

The Supreme Court will hear Patanjali misleading advertisement case on Wednesday after Yog Guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna tendered an unconditional apology for not abiding guidelines mentioned in the undertaking submitted earlier. According to the reports, the apex court has asked Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna to remain present in the court at the time of the hearing.

The unconditional apology affidavit filed by Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna reads, "In regard to the issue of advertisements, we sincerely regret this lapse and wish to assure the Hon'ble court that the same will not be repeated. We hereby tender an unconditional and unqualified apology for the breach of the statement recorded in para 3 of the order of this Hon'ble Court dated 21.11.2023."

"l further undertake and ensure that the said statement shall be complied with in letter and spirit and no such similar advertisements shall be used... I seek pardon for the aforesaid breach of the statement. I undertake to always uphold the majesty of law and majesty of justice," Patanjali's apology affidavit added.

Earlier, on April 2, the Supreme Court allowed "last opportunity" to Patanjali group to file a proper affidavit within a week terming the earlier apology as "incomplete and mere lip service".

Last year, on November 21, Patanjali assured the court that it would not violate any law, and take down all alleged misleading advertisements. Ayurvedic products company had also promised the court that "no casual statements claiming medicinal efficacy or against any system of medicine will be released to the media in any form".
