SC stays release of four convicts in Rajiv murder; Jaya disappointed?

Rajiv case: SC stays release of convicts
New Delhi, Feb 27: The Supreme Court Thursday stayed the release of four convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, ordering the status quo on a plea by the centre challenging the Tamil Nadu government's proposal to release them.

An apex court bench headed by Justice P. Sathasivam directed that the central government's plea would be heard March 6.

Earlier, the Supreme Court told the Tamil Nadu government that Rajiv Gandhi's killers cannot immediately walk free. This was after the Centre's petition seeking a stay on chief minister J Jayalalithaa's decision to release them.
