SC seeks centre's response on ombudsman to oversee government ads
New Delhi, Aug 17: The Supreme Court on Monday sought the government's response on steps taken by it to constitute a three-member ombudsman committee to oversee the issuance of advertisements by the government and its agencies.

An apex court bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice N.V. Ramana issued notice on the plea by the NGO the Centre for Public Interest Litigation seeking the contempt proceedings against the Delhi and Tamil Nadu governments for issuing advertisements carrying the photographs of chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal and J. Jayalalithaa in violation of the court's May 13 order.
The court said in case the government has not constituted the three-member ombudsman committee, it should explain the reason for this.
