SC to hear J&K beef ban petition on October 5
New Delhi, Sept 30: The Supreme Court will on October 5 hear the petition challenging the beef ban in Jammu and Kashmir. A petition had been filed in the Supreme Court challenging an order of the Jammu and Kashmir high court which had ordered the government to ban the sale of beef in the state.
The petition termed the order of the high court bad in law and stated that the ban cannot be enforced. The state government had argued that the high court order cannot ne enforced and also pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed special status.

The issue had triggered off a series of protests and the separatists called for a shut down. In the wake of these protests the government had banned internet in Jammu and Kashmir for three days. Internet services resumed only on Monday.
