SC asks FB, Whatsapp to file affidavit on data sharing policy
The Supreme Court last month upheld the right to privacy as a fundamental right and extended it to include informational privacy.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked Facebook and Whatsapp to file an affidavit on their data sharing policy.

The apex court has reportedly given the companies four weeks time to file a detailed affidavit. The court has also asked them to give assurance that they will not share consumers' data with the third party.
The Supreme Court last month upheld the right to privacy as a fundamental right and extended it to include informational privacy. The nine-judge bench in its ruling discussed the issue in detail and recognized informational privacy as an aspect of the right to privacy.
The Supreme Court on Monday sought details of complaints received by internet majors like Google, Yahoo and Facebook and instant messaging application WhatsApp in India regarding uploading of objectionable contents. The apex court asked them to provide such details they received within last year.
