Satya Pal Malik, the former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has passed away at Delhi's RML Hospital after a prolonged illness. He had been hospitalised for some time due to kidney disease and a urinary tract infection (UTI). Malik had shared on his social media account that he was experiencing difficulty urinating, which led to his hospitalisation.

On 22 May, Malik revealed on social media that his kidneys were failing and he had a urinary infection. At that time, he was undergoing dialysis. Despite his health challenges, he continued to update his followers about his condition.

Understanding Kidney Disease

According to reports, Malik had been battling UTI for an extended period. This condition can cause pain or burning during urination. If not treated promptly, UTI can lead to kidney failure. In such cases, the immune system starts damaging its own organs, a condition known as sepsis.

Doctors suggest that lifestyle choices significantly impact kidney health. While some individuals inherit kidney issues genetically, others develop them due to unhealthy lifestyles. Malik also suffered from high blood sugar and high blood pressure, both of which can harm the kidneys.

Factors Leading to Kidney Failure

Kidney stones are another potential cause of kidney failure. These stones can obstruct the urinary tract and damage the kidneys over time if not addressed properly.
