Sarbananda Sonowal takes charge as sports minister
Sonowal, who holds independent charge of the portfolio, was briefed on key initiatives and policy framework of the ministry by the secretaries of Department of Youth Affairs and Department of Sports and other senior ministry officials.
Sonowal was elected from Assam's Lakhimpur constituency on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.
