Sara Ali Khan attacked by Islamists for extending Shivaratri wishes

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan, daughter of actor Saif Ali Khan, has come under attack from Islamists for sending wishes on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

She posted seven pictures with the caption 'Jai Bholenath'. Those pictures are from her temple visit that includes one from her Kedarnath visit.

However, this did not go well with the Islamists who slammed Sara Ali Khan for performing pooja of a Hindu god. Her timeline was flooded with hateful and abusive messages as they alleged her of going against the teachings of Islam.

Some claimed that she performed 'shirk', a sin of idolatry or polytheism in Islam. "There is no forgiveness for shirk in Islam," one user commented. "Please change your name," another user.

There were also some followers who threatened to unfollow her after posting Shivaratri wishes. Also, there were followers who targeted her for wearing a short dress in her movies. Some questioned her whether she was a true Muslim.

She was called by one netizen as 'Jahannami Aurat'. One of her followers prayed Allah "to guide her in the right direction".

A netizen then complained, "I cannot understand what do they gain by worshipping to stones and animals."

However, this is not the first time that she has come under attack from Islamists. Last year too, she was targeted for posting wishes on Shiva Ratri. Also, she was once criticised for visiting Ujjain temple and when she visited Kedarnath temple.

Like Sara Ali Khan, many Muslim celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, and cricketers Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Kaif had faced similar situations from the Islamists earlier.

Coming back to Sara Ali Khan, who made her debut with Sushant Singh Rajput's 'Kedarnath', has worked in movies like 'Simmba', 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Coolie No 1' and 'Atrangi Re'.

She will be next seen in Vikrant Massey's 'Gaslight', Vicky Kaushal's 'Ae Watan Mere Watan' and Tiger Shroff's untitled movie.
