Sand Mafia strikes at woman inspector in MP's Shajapur
Shajapur, June 4: The Sand Mafia strikes another woman inspector in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur when she conducted a raid near the Nevaj River.
The inspector Reena Pathak conducted a raid on a complaint lodged on the chief minister's helpline number. On arriving at the spot, she seized four trollies laden with sand. The drivers of the trollies fled, but came back with over a dozen men and women and attacked the inspector and her car. The homeguards were badly hit too.

Pathak said,"We had gone there to check illegal mining. After we seized the tractors two dozen men and women attacked us. We somehow fled and saved our lives and rushed to the nearest police station."
The police have registered a case against 21 people, including 4 women. Meanwhile, the district administration blames Ms Pathak for the incident.
Sub duvisional Magistrate Shajapur Ranjeet Singh said,"As per the rules the mining inspector should have informed the local administration and the police before conducting the raid. Because she did not inform, such an incident has taken place."
But the mining inspector said that the local police was informed. A similar case of attack had been registered in 2012 when an IPS officer Narendra Kumar was mowed down by the sand mafia. A CBI probe led to the arrest of the accused Manoj Gurjar.
