Sambhal CO Anuj Chaudhary Transferred

The Uttar Pradesh government has transferred controversial police officer Anuj Chaudhary, the former Sambhal Circle Officer (CO), to a new position in Chandausi within the Sambhal district. The transfer decision come days after Anuj Chaudhary's controversial remarks regarding the Muslim community and the Holi festival. Additionally, his transfer coincides with the revocation of a clean chit by a probe committee, leading to a reevaluation of his conduct. In his new role, Chaudhary will be tasked with the security oversight of the Chandousi Court, along with responsibilities within the monitoring cell and duties related to NAFIS.

Amidst the unfolding of these events, Alok Bhati has been chosen to step into the role of Sambhal CO, marking a fresh start for the position. Alok Kumar's responsibilities will extend beyond the customary duties of a CO; he is set to manage police lines, training, a cybercrime police station, and the statistical branch. This reshuffle underscores the administration's response to the sensitivity of the issues at hand and its commitment to maintaining harmony.

Anuj Chaudhary

Anuj Chaudhary initially grabbed the public's attention with his controversial advice to the Muslim community regarding the celebration of Holi. He highlighted the rarity of Holi, which comes once a year, compared to the weekly occurrence of Jumma (Friday prayers). He controversially suggested that if Muslims felt their faith would be compromised by participating in Holi festivities or by the incidental contact with colors, they should opt to stay indoors during the celebration. This statement sparked a debate on religious sensitivity and the inclusivity of cultural celebrations.

The transfer of Chaudhary followed a significant turn of events, where a clean chit previously granted to him was withdrawn. This action led to the initiation of a new investigation. The probe, once led by former IPS Amitabh Thakur, had initially absolved Chaudhary of any wrongdoing. However, the decision to retract this clean chit and re-investigate signals a thorough examination of Chaudhary's remarks and their implications.
