Samar had issued death threat to Akanksha, alleges her mother

A day after Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey's alleged suicide, the mother of the deceased has held singer Samar Singh and his brother Sanjay Singh responsible for her death.

Akanksha's mother Madhu Dubey has alleged that Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh were not giving her money for the work that the actress did for the last three years. She recalled her daughter telling her about Sanjay Singh issuing a death threat to Akanksha on March 21 this year.

According to a report in Aaj Tak, the actress was affected by depression in 2018 due to which she had to take a break from her career. Thereafter, Akanksha made a comeback. She had revealed that her mother had helped her to overcome the difficult patch of her life.

The 25-year-old actress was found hanging from the fan with a piece of cloth and the police were called immediately, PTI quoted the hotel staff as saying. When Dubey did not come out of the room till late morning, the hotel staff, on the insistence of her colleagues, opened the gate of her room using a master key.

Akanksha, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district, had come to Varanasi for the shooting of a movie and was staying in the hotel in the Sarnath police station area. A day before she ended her life, the actress had posted a clip on her Instagram account in which she was seen dancing with her cell phone in her hand.

Her last post mentioned: 'Just try' with just a hashtag - #akankshadubey. Many of her fans suspected foul play as they mourn her death. "Doesn't seem to be in a mood of suicide.. need to be investigated.. RIP,[sic]" a user said. "Sirf 17 hours phle ka ye Reel hai , aur Aaj esa kya hua ki suicide kr lia.. it's not suicide at all," another netizen wrote expressing his dismay.
