Sai Baba not a God, he was a Muslim: Shankaracharya
Bangalore, June 30: Igniting controversy over Sai Baba, Dwarakapeeth Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand now claimed that Sai Baba was a Muslim and he should not be worshipped by the Hindus.
Shankaracharya also claimed that Sai Baba used to refrain himself from taking a dip in the Ganga, hence, his followers too should not take bath in the holy river.
Shankaracharya's latest statement on Sai Baba surfaced during his criticism at Union Minister Uma Bharti who refused to follow Shankaracharya's words on Sai Baba. Bharti was quoted as saying that worship is a subject of personal belief. The union minister, however, said that she does not want to react on Swaroopanand's statement as she never speaks against him.
Shankaracharya, while reacting on Bharti's statement, said that it was strange that the minister has changed her colour and worshipping Sai baba. He said Sai Baba was a Muslim and if she is worshipping him, how could lord Rama shower his blessing on her.
Earlier, the religious guru had claimed that Sai Baba is not a good as he was a human being. Shankaracharya, who asked the Hindus not to worship Sai Baba, claimed, "Muslims would have had the same amount of faith in Sai Baba if he really was a symbol of unity between the Hindus and Muslims."
