Sahil kills live-in partner using data cable, stores her body parts in Dhaba freezer, gets married hours later

Delhi Police Crime Branch has recovered the car inside which Sahil Gahlot allegedly murdered Nikki Yadav and also used it to transport her body to his dhaba, say police.

In a shocking incident, the body of a 25-year-old woman named Nikki Yadav was recovered from a freezer in New Delhi's Najafgarh area on Tuesday. According to police, the victim is said to be a resident of Jhajjar, Haryana.

The accused, a 26-year-old Dhaba owner identified as Sahil Gahlot, was in a relationship with the deceased. He has been arrested and an initial probe suggests that the woman was allegedly murdered around two to three days ago, and her body was kept inside a freezer at his family's dhaba at Mitraon Village.

How Nikki Yadav met Sahil Gahlot

As the probe was underway, Sahil Gahlot revealed that he had met the Nikki Yadav in 2018, when he had started preparing for SSC exams at Career Point Coaching Centre at Uttam Nagar. Back then, Yadav was also preparing for a medical entrance examination at Akash Institute in the same area.

The duo used to travel together to Uttam Nagar in the same bus, and they became friends, and later on fell in love. They used to meet before and after the coaching classes.

In February 2018, the accused took admission in D. Pharma in Galgotia College at Greater Noida and she also took admission in the same college in BA (English Hons.). Thereafter, both of them started living together at Greater Noida in a rented house. They became very close to each other and also travelled to several places such as Manali, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun.

However, during Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, they returned to their homes and after the end of the lockdown, they again started living together in a rented house in Dwarka area.

A murder, a plot to hide the body, and a wedding - all in one day

The accused did not inform his family members about his relationship with Nikki Yadav. His family was putting pressure on him to get married with some other girl and finally in December 2022, engagement and marriage of the accused with another girl were fixed for February 9 and 10.

However, the accused Gahlot did not inform Nikki about his engagement or marriage plans. Somehow she came to know about this and confronted the accused and arguments started between the two. The accused strangulated the deceased with the help of a data cable of his mobile phone kept in his car. Thereafter, he went to the dhaba owned by him and put her dead body in a refrigerator. The accused then went back to his home and solemnised his marriage with another woman.

During the investigation, Gahlot initially tried to mislead the police. But on sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he had killed his girlfriend, Nikki Yadav, in the intervening night of February 9 and 10 Feb and kept her dead body in a refrigerator at his dhaba in a vacant plot situated on the outskirts of village Mitraon.

Additional DCP (Dwarka) Vikram Singh said that Sahil Gahlot, a resident of Mitraon village, and victim were in a relationship. "Initial probe into the case suggests that the accused was going to get married to another woman. And the victim after coming to know about it, raised an objection and insisted him to marry her," Singh said while speaking to ANI.
