Saffron Map 2024: India's Political Map Updated After BJP Wins Odisha, Andhra
The BJP's landslide victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has cemented its position as the dominant force in Indian politics. With the party now in power in a dozen states across the country including Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, its grip on national politics seems unshakeable.
The BJP's success can be attributed to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been instrumental in transforming the party's fortunes. The Congress, which once dominated the political landscape, has been reduced to a shell of its former self.

Let's take a closer look at the updated political map of India:
Uttar Pradesh: The Hindi Heartland state has been a major battleground for the BJP, which has seen its vote share decline significantly. The party won 62 seats out of 80 in 2019, but this time it has been reduced to 33 seats. The Samajwadi Party (SP) has emerged as the main challenger, winning 36 seats, while the Congress has won 6 seats.
West Bengal: The BJP's performance in West Bengal has been disappointing, with the party winning just 12 seats out of 42. This is a decline from its previous tally of 18 seats. The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress has secured a significant victory, winning 29 seats, while the Congress has won 1 seat.
Maharashtra: The BJP's strategy to create divisions within the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has not yielded the desired results. The party won just 9 seats in Maharashtra, while the Congress won 13 seats.
Karnataka: The BJP-JDS alliance has won 17 seats out of 28 seats in Karnataka, while the Congress has won 9 seats. This is a decline from the BJP's previous tally of 25 seats.
Rajasthan: The BJP has faced a setback in Rajasthan, winning just 14 seats out of 25. This is a decline from its previous tally of 24 seats. The Congress has won 8 seats in the state.
These results indicate that the BJP's dominance is not limited to one region or community, but is a pan-India phenomenon. The party's success can be attributed to its ability to connect with voters across different demographics and regions.
