Safety of tourists: Govt to install CCTV cameras at Goa beaches
Panaji, Jan 28: To ensure safety of tourists, state government has decided to install CCTV cameras at all main beaches in Goa. The tourism in Goa has seen a rise in recent times and with this, the safety of tourists visiting the coastal state has become a concern.

Already, tourist security forces and Indian reserve battalion (IRB) personnel guard the beaches. The high power monitoring committee last week, approved the proposal to install CCTV cameras.

The CCTV cameras will be installed with the help of Goa Electronics Ltd (GEL). However, the cost of the project has not been finalized.

With its high-end beach resorts, parties and restaurants, Goa is one of the major tourist attractions in the country. In North Goa, Calangute-Candolim and Baga stretch receive maximum tourists during the season, whereas in South Goa, tourists throng beaches at Colva, Cavelossim and Palolem. Other major tourist spots include Old Goa world heritage church complex and some temples located in Ponda like Shantadurga temple, Kamakshi temple, Mangueshi temple and Ramnathi temple.
