Safety First: Five Flights Grounded Following Bomb Threats, Airline Issues Statement
Five IndiGo flights faced bomb threats on Saturday, leading to emergency landings. Among these, flights from Jeddah to Mumbai, Hyderabad to Chandigarh, and Jodhpur to Delhi safely landed at Delhi Airport. This incident follows similar threats involving Air India Express and Vistara earlier in the week.
IndiGo Flights Affected

The IndiGo flights that received bomb threats include 6E 17 from Mumbai to Istanbul, 6E 11 from Delhi to Istanbul, 6E 108 from Hyderabad to Chandigarh, 6E 58 from Jeddah to Mumbai, and 6E 184 from Jodhpur to Delhi. Authorities are investigating these threats as bomb scares have been on the rise this week.
Regarding the Jodhpur-Delhi flight, IndiGo confirmed that the plane landed safely in Delhi. All passengers disembarked without any issues. The increase in bomb threats has raised concerns about flight safety and prompted tighter security measures at airports.
Airlines Issuse Statement:
Amid a series of bomb threats to flights, IndiGo on Saturday released a statement saying "safety and security of our passengers and crew is our highest priority and we are working closely with the relevant authorities and taking all necessary precautions as per the guidelines."
Air India Express Incident
Earlier on the same day, an Air India Express flight also faced a bomb threat. Flight IX-196 was travelling from Dubai to Jaipur when it had to make an emergency landing at Jaipur International Airport at 1:20 am after receiving a threat at 12:45 am. The aircraft carried 189 passengers, but no suspicious items were found after a thorough inspection.
This week has seen several international flights affected by bomb threats. On Wednesday, Akasa Air's QP 1335 flight from Delhi to Bengaluru returned to Delhi due to a threat. On Tuesday, an Air India flight heading from Delhi to Chicago was diverted to Canada following a scare.
International Flights Impacted
Additionally, another Air India flight from Madurai to Singapore faced a similar threat and was escorted by Singapore Armed Forces jets. An IndiGo flight travelling from Saudi Arabia to Lucknow was redirected to Jaipur due to a bomb threat on the same day.
The surge in bomb threats this week has significantly impacted international flights. This situation underscores the need for stringent security protocols at airports worldwide.
