Sadhu Strangled To Death Inside Ayodhya Temple

A sadhu was found murdered at Ayodhya's Hanumangarhi Temple. The deceased is identified as 44-year-old Ram Sahrey Das.

The sadhu was strangled to death on Wednesday evening. A deep mark was found on his neck, the police said. They suspect an insider's hand in the murder.

The cops have said that one person has been detained, while another is absconding.

A complaint has been lodged against two persons, including one Rishabh Shukla who is said to be absconding.

Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police Raj Karan Nayyar told PTI: "A complaint made by an aide of the deceased against two persons has been received. One of the accused persons has been detained (for interrogation), while the other is absconding."

On the other hand, mahant (chief priest) of Hanumangarhi Temple Raju Das said the deceased had been residing in Hanumangarhi since 1991.

"He was a mahant of an ashram in Hanumangarhi, where he used to impart (spiritual) education to about ten students," Das told the news agency. He has also demanded a "fair and an impartial probe" into the incident.
