Sachin Pilot Says Congress Will Introspect About Shortcomings That Led To Party Failing To Retain Government In Rajasthan

Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot said the Congress will have to introspect about the shortcomings that led to the party failing to retain the government in the state.

Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot said on Monday that the Congress party will have to introspect about the shortcomings that led to the party failing to retain the government in the state. The Congress could not break Rajasthan's three-decade-long tradition of voting out the party in power every five years despite making every effort, he added.

BJP Wrested Rajasthan From Congress

The BJP wrested Rajasthan from the Congress, winning 115 of the 199 seats where polling took place. The grand old party, which won 69 seats, failed to buck the state's revolving-door trend. Pilot said that it is a matter of concern that despite making every effort and hard work, the Congress could not break the tradition. He added that everyone will have to introspect about the shortcomings and the reasons due to which the Congress could not retain the government.

Lok Sabha Elections Will Be Held In The Next Five Months

The former deputy chief minister said that the Lok Sabha elections will be held in the next five months and it is a big challenge for the party. He added that the Congress needs to honestly introspect and it will do so. Pilot said that the people have given the Congress the role of opposition and the party will play it strongly. He added that the Congress will force the government to fulfill its promises and become the voice of the people.

Sharma Blamed Gehlot For The Defeat

Reacting to the statement of Ashok Gehlot's OSD Lokesh Sharma, Pilot said that he has seen the statement and it is strange. He added that since Sharma was OSD to the chief minister, his statement is a matter of concern. Pilot said that he believes the party will look into why Sharma said so and how much truth it holds.

Sharma, who was denied a ticket to contest the polls, had blamed Gehlot for the defeat in the assembly polls. He had said that Gehlot's experience, magic, and schemes could not bring the Congress back to power. Sharma, who was denied a ticket to contest the polls, said Gehlot once again brought the Congress to the margins and has only taken away from the party but never been able to bring it back to power.

The Congress party must introspect about the shortcomings that led to its failure to retain the government in Rajasthan. The party will discuss the reasons for its failure and its future strategy in the Congress Legislature Party meeting on Tuesday. The Lok Sabha elections will be held in the next five months and it is a big challenge for the Congress. The party needs to honestly introspect and it will do so. The people have given the Congress the role of opposition and the party will play it strongly.
