Ruckus in Rajya Sabha on EVM tampering issue

Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad demanded that ballot papers be used in upcoming bypolls and he said that had the Bharatiya Janata Party tampered with EVMs in all the five states it would have been very obvious and so the party tampered with EVMs only in the biggest state that went to polls.

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh also raised the issue in the upper house. Minister of Human Resources Development, Prakash Javadekar asked Digvijaya Singh to approach Election Commission over the issue and not to stall the house. SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav said that it was clear that the EVM was programmed to vote for one party in UP.

Despite deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha also requesting MPs not to stall proceedings of the house as the issue should be taken up with the Election Commission, the members of the opposition kept on shouting EVM ki ye sarkar nahi chalegi, nahi chalegi (This EVM government will not function.) When the members of opposition stormed the well of the house deputy chairman adjourned the house till 11:30 am.
