RSS wins at least perception battle against the united opposition
New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) seems to have won the perception battle that it is open for the debate among people with different ideologies.

It has also been able to send across the message that the RSS is actually the victim of political untouchability and political intolerance. So much so that in the past couple of years the debate and narrative were more of the RSS versus the rest of the political parties but former President Pranab Mukherjee has given shot in the arm to the RSS.
Sources said that the main opposition the Congress has been attacking the RSS in the worst possible manner by calling it communal and having terror links. Right from the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh to former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to the Congress president Rahul Gandhi with linking it to the saffron terrorism. He did not miss the chance to run it down.
A political analyst Rajvir Sharma told One India that the visit of Pranab Mukherjee has made the attack of the Congress on the RSS blunt as one of its main leaders is visiting the RSS headquarters. But there is an altogether different aspect of Pranab Mukherjee visiting Reshmi Bagh that despite opposition political parties from the Congress to the Left Front, it will have its impact on a section of people revisiting their idea about the RSS.
Sources in the BJP said that the visit of Pranab Mukherjee will stir the conscious of a certain section of people especially in the West Bengal and north-eastern states where the RSS is growing leaps and bounds and its political affiliate the BJP is getting benefited by it. There is one more thing that people will revisit all accusation made against the RSS with Pranab Mukherjee visiting the RSS headquarters.
Political analysts were of the view that Pranab Mukherjee neither was getting to benefited by it nor was he at loss with this but this will definitely change the narrative in the country which is obvious. The Congress actually failed the accuse, Pranab Mukherjee, to get benefitted by this. Reportedly the Congress which was not responding as a political party on this issue and one of its most powerful general secretary Ahmed Patel unusually tweeted against Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Nagpur literally disowning him.
Another political analyst close to the Congress said that such aggressive opposition of the Congress leaders to the decision of one of its senior leaders and former President might boomerang on them and even politically harm them during elections. BJP sources said that Pranab Mukherjee has been maintaining very cordial relations with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was reflected when Pranab Mukherjee was in the office.
