RSS's Mohan Bhagwat in yet another 'Hindutva' controversy

Mohan Bhagwat
Mumbai, Aug 18:Mohan Bhagwat, chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or the RSS has landed himself in another controversy as he said at a function in Mumbai,"Hindutva hamare rashtra ki pechaan hai (Hindutva is the identity of our nation)".

The function was held to mark the 50 years of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, an organization that is part of the Sangh Pariwar, includingthe ruling BJP.

He said,"Hindustan Hindu rashtra hai (Hindustan is a country of Hindus). India is a Hindu state and "citizens of Hindustan should be known as Hindus.

Political parties reminded him saying that the constitution named India has 'Bharat' and not Hindustan.

Congress spokesperson Manish Tewary said,"Mr Bhagwat will be well-advised to read the Constitution. It is written that India is a country of combination of states. The word used by the framers of constitution was India or Bharat and not Hindustan. The RSS does not understand the reality."
