Rs 35 lakh in demonetised currency seized in Gurugram
The Police on Tuesday recovered Rs 35 lakh in cash from a car in the now scrapped Rs 1,000 denomination notes.
Gurugram, Nov 29: The Police on Tuesday recovered Rs 35 lakh in cash from a car in the now scrapped Rs 1,000 denomination notes.
The seizure was made from a Mercedes car at around 4.30 a.m.
The three persons seated in the car were identified as Nikhil of Haryana and Delhi residents Anurag and Rajat.
"This amount seems to be black money. The Income Tax Department is being informed," police officer Umesh Kumar said.
On Monday evening, Rs 15 lakh was recovered from two persons here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on November 8 announced that Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes would cease to be legal tenders. The move was aimed at curbing hoarding of black money, terror financing and circulation of fake notes.
