Rs 1.22 crore looted from bank in Haryana

It is learnt that burglars with their faces masked entered the bank after breaking the back wall.

New Delhi, Nov 25: A gang of burglars looted Rs 1.22 crore from the Oriental Bank of Commerce at Saidpur village of Kharkhoda tehsil in Sonepat district of Haryana on Wednesday night.

It is learnt that burglars with their faces masked entered the bank after breaking the back wall. They also damaged the CCTV cameras after entering the bank. They later decamped with demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes totalling Rs 1.22 crore which had been deposited by people. However, burglars could only find around Rs 30,000 new currency notes.

The incidence came to light on Thursday morning when bank workers reached the bank. The CCTV cameras could only capture their hands. There was no guard on duty at the time of the robbery. The police are investigating.
