Rotten meat supply racket: Congress protests against govt, clashes with police

Congress leader AR Chowdhury, said,' Rotten meat market is thriving here, this kind of crime cannot take place without collusion with the ruling regime.'
The Kolkata Police on Thursday seized 20 tonnes of rotten meat suspected to be of dead animals said chemicals were used to arrest rotting and get rid of the stench before it was packed and supplied to markets in West Bengal and neighbouring states.
So far, 10 people, including a leader of a political outfit, have been arrested in connection with the case.
The West Bengal Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the sale of rotten meat suspected to be of dead animals, collected from dumpyards in the state.
