Tragic Road Crash in Uttar Pradesh Results in 10 Fatalities and Injuries

A tragic accident occurred early Friday when a truck collided with a tractor trolley carrying labourers in Mirzapur district, resulting in ten fatalities and three injuries, according to police reports. The collision happened around 1 am on G T Road, between Kachhawan and Mirzamurad areas, near the Mirzapur-Varanasi border, as stated by Superintendent of Police Mirzapur Abhinandan.

Uttar Pradesh Road Crash Claims 10 Lives

The tractor trolley was transporting 13 labourers returning from construction work in Bhadohi district when it was struck from behind by an out-of-control truck. Of the 13 individuals involved, ten lost their lives, while three were taken to IIT-BHU hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.

Condolences and Compensation

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed their condolences for the loss of lives. "The news of the death of several people in a road accident in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful. In this hour of grief, I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved loved ones and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured," Murmu stated on X.

Prime Minister Modi announced a compensation package of Rs 2 lakh for each family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. Adityanath also declared similar compensation for the victims' families. BJP officials and public representatives met with the affected families to distribute the relief funds provided by the UP government.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

A case has been registered at Kachhawan police station, and further legal proceedings are ongoing. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the circumstances that led to this tragic accident. The bodies have been sent to the mortuary as part of the process.

The deceased were identified as Bhanu Pratap (25), Vikas Kumar (20), Anil Kumar (35), Suraj Kumar (22), Sanohar (25), Rakesh Kumar (25), Prem Kumar (40), Rahul Kumar (26), Nitin Kumar (22), and Roshan Kumar (17). The injured individuals hospitalised in Varanasi include Akash Kumar (18), Jamuni (26), and Ajay Saroj (50). All were residents of Varanasi district.

Support from Local Leaders

BJP media in-charge Navratan Rathi stated that BJP district president Hansraj Vishwakarma, MLC Dharmendra Singh Rai, and MLA Sunil Patel visited the grieving families. They provided cheques of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to those injured on behalf of the chief minister.

The local administration is actively assisting victims under state government supervision. Prime Minister Modi, also a Lok Sabha MP from Varanasi, assured that efforts are being made to support those affected by this tragedy. "The road accident in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in this. May God give them strength to bear this pain. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured," PM Modi said on X.
