R K Nagar bypoll: 'I support none,' tweets Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth took it upon himself to put all rumours to rest and tweeted his decision that he supported no party or candidate.

Superstar Rajinikanth took to twitter on Thursday to convey that he supported no party or candidate in the upcoming R K Nagar polls. Rajinikanth's tweet comes in the backdrop of speculations that he extended his support to BJP candidate Gangai Amaran. The superstar wanted to put all speculations to rest and said that his support was for no one in the upcoming elections.

A photo of Amaran meeting Rajinikanth after being announced as BJP's candidate for the bypoll sparked off speculations of the superstar supporting his candidature. Rajinikanth, who has considerable sway is considered to be an opinion maker in Tamil Nadu and his support has time and again translated into votes for parties in the fray.

For two days, speculation was rife that Rajinikanth's picture with Amaran meant that the superstar had extended his support to his long-time associate. Both are from the film fraternity. Amaran made no attempts to clarify that the meeting was apolitical and let the rumour get stronger. Rajinikanth took it upon himself to put all rumours to rest and tweeted his decision.
