Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara' 2 officially begins
The writing for the prequel to Rishab Shetty's much-hyped 'Kantara' has formally started on the auspicious day of Ugadi, considered as a New Year in the Hindu calendar.

The film's producer Chaluve Gowda announced the news on Twitter and wrote, "On this auspicious occasion of Ugadi & New Year, we are delighted to announce that the writing for the second part of #Kantara has begun. We can't wait to bring you another captivating story that showcases our relationship with nature. Stay tuned for more updates."
Last month, Rishab Shetty had clarified that 'Kantara 2' would not be a sequel to the first instalment but a prequel. It means the upcoming flick would narrate what happened before the birth of Shiva.
"We thank the audience for their immense love and support for Kantara. With the blessing of almighty Daiva, the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of the film," Hindustan Times quoted Shetty as saying at the recent event.
He then said, "What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year. The idea came to my mind while I was shooting for Kantara. It is because the history of Kantara has more depth to it. Currently, we are in the middle of digging into more details. As the research is still underway, it would be very early to reveal details about the film."
The first part of the movie was about a landlord facing the wrath of a demigod after he tried to break his ancestor's promise to the villagers. He attempts to grab the land gifted by his forefathers to the villagers.
Apart from directing the project, Rishab Shetty played the lead role with Sapthami Gowda playing the female lead.
The movie, which was made with the budget of Rs 16 crore, went on to mint over Rs 400 crore, globally.
