RIP Himanshu Roy, condolence messages pour in

Condolence messages flooded Twitter after the sad piece of news about Himanshu Roy's suicide left the Mumbaikars in shock. The 1988-batch IPS officer was referred as 'Dabang', 'Hercules Roy' and 'people's cop' in their condolence tweets.

Roy was 1988 batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer. Roy has solved several sensational cases including the firing on Dawood's brother Iqbal Kaskar's driver Arif Bael, Journalist J Dey murder case, the double murder case involving Vijay Palande, Laila Khan murder case and the recent murder of law graduate Pallavi Purkhayasta.

Congress leader Milind Deora referred to Himanshu Roy as 'Hercules Roy' for his well-built personality. Deora tweeted, " Shocked to learn about Himanshu Roy's untimely passing. I would jokingly call him 'Hercules Roy' because of his overawing athletic build. Only recently, I messaged him to enquire about his health. He was a capable IPS officer & will be missed. May his soul rest in peace."

"Shocking. Mumbai Top Cop Himanshu Roy commits suicide at his residence. Fired at himself from service revolver reportedly after depression from a prolonged illness. Roy was a very committed and popular police officer. Shock waves all across after the news.

"Taking your own life should be the bravest thing one has to do. And irony is it comes in your weakest moment. RIP Himanshu Roy. This is a very sad piece of news," tweeted TeDx speaker Richa Singh.

Filmmaker Ashok Pandit called Himanshu Roy as 'Dabang' police officer. Pandit tweeted, "#HimanshuRoy you were the #Dabang of @MumbaiPolice... the news of your suicide is heart breaking. U gave strength and confidence to the city of #Mumbai in your lifetime. Mumbai will miss you forever...may you find peace in your second innings and be the Dabang that u always were."

AAP leader Kumar Vishwas tweeted, "The loss of Supercop Himanshu Roy is a shock for us. He had an unmatched track record during his Crime Branch and ATS positions as an @IPS_Association officer. May the departed soul Rest in Peace."
