Rinku Singh Gets Engaged To Priya Saroj In Grand Lucknow Ceremony; SP MP Seen Shedding Happy Tears | WATCH

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Team India cricketer Rinku Singh got engaged to Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of Parliament Priya Saroj on Sunday during a private ceremony held in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

The occasion was kept low-key and intimate, though several prominent Samajwadi Party politicians were present to offer their blessings to the couple as they embarked on a new chapter.

Among those in attendance were SP national president Akhilesh Yadav and his wife, MP Dimple Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan, and senior leader Shivpal Yadav.

The ceremony took place around midday at Hotel Centrum in Lucknow. Pandit Umesh Trivedi, who is believed to have conducted the engagement rituals, told IANS that the traditions of Bariksha and Godh Bharai were performed prior to the exchange of rings.

A video of the couple exchanging rings has surfaced online, capturing a visibly emotional Priya Saroj at the poignant moment.

Ahead of the event, Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj were seen visiting the Chaudhera Wali Vichitra Devi Temple in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, to seek blessings.

The couple are expected to marry in November later this year.

How did the two meet?

Rinku Singh, 26, hails from Aligarh and shot to fame during the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after hitting five consecutive sixes in a single over against the Gujarat Titans, securing a remarkable win for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Priya Saroj, who became the second-youngest MP elected in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, secured her seat from Machhlishahr.

SP MLA and Priya's father, Tufani Saroj, shared how the couple met.

"Today is the engagement ceremony, and we are gathered here for the same. We are very happy that Priya Saroj's engagement is taking place today. Rinku and Priya have known each other for some time. They were introduced through Priya's friend's father, who is a cricketer himself. With the blessings of both families, they have decided to get married," he told ANI.
