Richest AAP Rajya Sabha Nominee N D Guptas Assets Revealed in Affidavit
N D Gupta, an Aam Aadmi Party candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections, has the highest net worth among the three candidates, according to affidavits submitted to poll authorities.
New Delhi, January 8: Among the three candidates nominated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Delhi, MP N D Gupta stands out as the wealthiest, as revealed by their affidavits submitted to the poll authorities. Joining Gupta in the race are AAP MPs Sanjay Singh and former Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal, who all filed their nominations on Monday.

Gupta's Assets: A Combination of Movable and Immovable Wealth
According to the affidavits made available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, 78-year-old Gupta possesses a substantial amount of both movable and immovable assets. His movable assets, which include a Mercedes Benz vehicle purchased in 2019, are valued at Rs 3,86,28,985. Additionally, Gupta owns 250 grams of gold worth Rs 15 lakh.
Gupta's immovable assets, on the other hand, hold a current market value of Rs 6,12,00,000, as per his affidavit.
AAP's Rajya Sabha Nominations: Maliwal's Entry and Renominations
The Aam Aadmi Party announced its Rajya Sabha candidates on Friday, naming Swati Maliwal as a new addition to the list and renominating Sanjay Singh and N D Gupta for a second term in the Upper House of Parliament. The six-year term of Singh, Gupta, and Sushil Kumar Gupta is set to end on January 27, and Maliwal's nomination is intended to replace Sushil Gupta.
Nominations Filed Amidst Legal Challenges
Maliwal, N D Gupta, and Sanjay Singh filed their nominations at the Delhi Transport Department's office in Civil Lines. Notably, Singh, who is currently in jail in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, arrived at the Transport Department office under tight security to submit his nomination papers.
A Look at Singh and Maliwal's Affidavits
Sanjay Singh's affidavit reveals that his movable assets are valued at Rs 8,09,811.58. However, it also mentions multiple pending cases against him, including one in which he was convicted.
Swati Maliwal's affidavit, on the other hand, indicates that she has three pending cases against her. Her movable assets are valued at over Rs 19 lakh, as per the affidavit.
As the Rajya Sabha elections draw near, the wealth and legal backgrounds of the Aam Aadmi Party's nominated candidates have come into focus. MP N D Gupta's substantial assets make him the wealthiest among the three, while Sanjay Singh and Swati Maliwal face legal challenges that could impact their candidacies.
