Panaji, Dec 2: Potency test of former Editor-in-chief of Tehelka -- Tarun Tejpal has come out as positive. Everyone raised several questions when 50-year-old Tejpal, accused of a high profile sexual assault case, was taken for the test on Monday, Dec 2.

Now, it has been reported that potency test is mandatory for any sexual assault case. Lately self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu too had faced the test. The controversial 72-year-old spiritual leader, who have been arrested over rape allegations, had gone for potency test twice and the results of the tests were positive.

Micro-blogging site Twitter on Monday went abuzz over the news on Tejpal's potency test. Controversial writer Taslima Nasreen's tweet surfaced questioning Tejpal and the test.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet blockquote" lang="en"><p>Asaram is sexually potent at 75. It would be disaster if Tejpal is not sexually potent at 50.</p>— taslima nasreen (@taslimanasreen) <a href="https://twitter.com/taslimanasreen/statuses/407454761206575104">December 2, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Officials at Goa Medical College, who conducted the test on Tejpal, informed that the examination has fetched a positive result. The accused was subjected to various other tests, including a blood test, at the college's forensic department near Panaji.

He was medically examined for five hours in the morning and later brought again at 3.15 PM for further tests, sources said.

Goa Medical College Dean VN Jindal said that the tests were conducted as per the requirement of the investigation agency. He, however, refused to disclose the results of the test.

Tejpal was arrested on Saturday by crime branch after his anticipatory bail petition was rejected by sessions court. He was yesterday remanded in six-day police custody by a court in Panaji after which Crime Branch officials grilled him for over five hours.

A woman journalist, who was employed with Tehelka, had accused Tejpal of sexually assaulting her twice on November 7 and 8 in a lift in a five-star hotel in Goa.

He has been booked under Sections 354A (outraging the modesty of a woman) and 376 (2)(K) (custodial rape) of IPC.
