Esther Anuhya
Mumbai, March 3: Not rape, not homicide; Esther Anuhya's death does not have a usual plot. She was murdered for her suitcase. She was allegedly attacked by a stone and then strangulated by her own scarf.

The details came to light after the murderer of Esther was caught two months after the brutal murder of the 23-year old software engineer.

Chandra Bhan Sana, aka Choukia (28), was spotted walking with her in a CCTV camera near a Mumbai station on January 5.

Police further reveal that the accused had a prior criminal record and had come to the station with an intent to rob. He spotted Esther who had just arrived from Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh after spending a holiday with her family there. He offered to take her home in Andheri, Mumbai for Rs 300.

Bashed with stone and strangulated with her own scarf; motive was suitcase.

Esther smelled foul when they reached the parking lot and found that the man did not have a taxi or an autorickshaw and had a bike. On resisting, Choukia convinced her to get on the bike.

Esther is suspected to have no airtime left in the cell, but pretended that she was calling home. Choukia found the best scope and place to take her off the road, beat and bashed her with a stone and strangulated her. He then went away with her suitcase. Her burnt and highly decomposed body was found in a swamp off the Mumbai-Nashik highway 11 days later after the incident.

Following this, he called the friend from whom he had borrowed the bike and revealed the entire story.

He later went to Nasik and on his way gave away the bag to a beggar. The police later found the bag. He hid in Nashik and changed his appearance by growing a beard.

After scanning CCTV footage and questioning the people around at that time, police got to know about Choukia. They were also able to track his friend Nandkishore Sahu from Jharkhand who told everything.

With 9 police teams, questioning 2,500 people and analysing 36 CCTV cameras, the murderer was finally nabbed.
