In a tragic incident in New Delhi, a 68-year-old retired Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Assistant Commandant lost his life after being pushed by his intoxicated son during a domestic dispute. The event occurred on Tuesday, with the police receiving a call at the Ambedkar Nagar police station around 11:50 pm regarding the altercation.

The Incident

Retired CRPF Assistant Commandant Death

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Deepak Bhatt, aged 36, had forcefully shoved his father Leela Dhar Bhatt against a wall amidst their quarrel. The impact of this assault led to an immediate cardiac arrest for the senior Bhatt. Both father and son were residents of DDA flats in Madangir area and were reportedly under the influence of alcohol when this unfortunate incident took place.

A PCR van promptly transported Leela Dhar to AIIMS Trauma Centre following the distress call. However, despite best efforts from medical professionals he could not be revived and was declared dead shortly thereafter.

Investigation and Arrest

The victim's daughter-in-law informed the police about Deepak’s violent confrontation with his father at their home which resulted in him pushing him against the wall. Following Leela Dhar's cardiac arrest, attempts were made to revive him through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Unfortunately, even after twenty minutes of CPR he could not be resuscitated and was officially pronounced dead at 12:04 am.

An inspection of their residence has been carried out by crime scene investigators as part of formal procedures following such incidents. In light of these events and subsequent investigations, Deepak has been apprehended by law enforcement officials," said Deputy Commissioner Of Police South Chandan Chowdhary.

Conclusion

This lamentable episode serves as yet another stark reminder of the adverse effects of alcohol and domestic violence. The incident has not only resulted in the untimely demise of a retired CRPF Assistant Commandant but also showcases an alarming instance where intoxication fuelled aggression within family confines. As investigations continue, it is hoped that justice will be served for Leela Dhar Bhatt.
