Republic Day parade rehearsal: Traffic restictions in Delhi

The stretch from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath will remain closed from 6pm on Monday till the parade rehearsal is over for the day.

The full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade will be held in Delhi on Tuesday because of which there would be certain restrictions on the movement of traffic. The parade rehearsal will start at 9 am from Vijay Chowk and proceed to the Red Fort.

The route of the parade will be: Vijay Chowk - Rajpath - India Gate - Tilak Marg - Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg - Red Fort.

According to the Delhi Traffic Police, the stretch from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath will remain closed from 6 pm on Monday till the parade rehearsal is over for the day. No cross traffic will be allowed at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road from 11 pm on Monday till the parade rehearsal is over.

Traffic police have requested commuters to plan their journey accordingly and avoid the restricted routes.

There shall be no restriction on metro services except restricting boarding/de-boarding from four metro stations: Kendriya Sachivalaya and Udyog Bhawan from 5 am till 12 noon on January 23; Lok Kalyan Marg and Patel Chowk from 8:45 am to 12 noon on January 23.

All the offices in the surrounding area of Rajpath will remain closed till 1 p.m. today.
