Republic Day 2025 Full Dress Rehearsals: Avoid These Routes Near India Gate Today

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for the Republic Day parade's full dress rehearsal on January 23, 2025. Commuters in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) should be aware of restrictions from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. The advisory advises avoiding certain routes during this period.

Traffic movement will be restricted from Vijay Chowk to India Gate starting at 6 pm on January 22 until the parade concludes. Additionally, cross traffic will not be allowed at Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road from 11 pm on January 22. C-Hexagon will close at 9:15 am on January 23 until the parade passes Tilak Marg.

Republic Day 2025 Routes To Avoid

Republic Day Parade Route

The parade will follow this route: Vijay Chowk, Kartavyapath, C-Hexagon, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, and Red Fort. No traffic will be permitted on Tilak Marg, BSZ Marg, and Subhash Marg in both directions from 10:30 am on January 23.

For those needing alternate routes, the North-South Corridor includes Ring Road Ashram Chowk to Sarai Kale Khan to IP Flyover to Rajghat to Ring Road. Another option is from Madarsa to Lodhi Road 'T' point to Aurobindo Marg to AIIMS Chowk to Ring Road to Dhaula Kuan.

Alternate Routes for Commuters

The East-West Corridor provides alternatives such as Ring Road to Bhairon Road to Mathura Road or Lodhi Road. Other routes include Aurobindo Road to AIIMS Chowk or Vande Mataram Marg via Shankar Road or Mandir Marg. Commuters can also use Ring Road through ISBT and Chandgi Ram Akhara.

Delhi Metro services will remain operational at all stations during the rehearsal on January 23. However, heavy goods vehicles and other specified vehicles are barred from entering Delhi borders from 9 pm on January 22 until the rehearsal ends. Essential services are exempted from these restrictions.

Additional Traffic Advisories

The advisory also covers Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), and Gurugram. Previously, advisories were issued for rehearsals on January 22 and Republic Day celebrations at Chhatrasal Stadium on January 25. Restrictions for these events are effective from 6 am to 1 pm.

During the Chhatrasal Stadium event on January 25, Chief Minister Atishi will host the National Flag. Approximately 250 buses and 1000 light vehicles are expected around the stadium area. This may lead to congestion; hence a separate advisory has been issued for this event.

Security Measures in Place

Security preparations are ongoing in Delhi ahead of Republic Day celebrations on January 26. The police have banned sub-conventional aerial platforms over the capital until February 1. This includes paragliders, UAVs, hot air balloons, quadcopters among others.

If anyone violates these aerial restrictions under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), they will face punishment as per law enforcement directives.
