Republic Day 2024: Delhi Metro Timings And DTC Bus Routes On January 26, Check Now
The commencement of Delhi metro services at 4 am on Friday, January 26, was announced by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday.
The decision has been made for the convenience of individuals attending the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path.

DMRC updates timings for January 26
With a 30-minute headway on Friday from 4 am to 6 am, the metro trains will be operational, following which, the normal schedule of metro services will be resumed.
Coupons for the return journey, exclusively for passengers with e-invitation cards or e-tickets for the Republic Day ceremony, are required to be obtained from the Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan metro stations.
These coupons will be issued upon presentation of valid government-issued photo ID cards at the specified stations only. Passengers with e-invitation cards containing enclosures 1 to 9 and V1 and V2 on their cards are instructed to disembark at the Udyog Bhawan Metro Station.
Similarly, those with enclosures 10 to 24 and VN are required to alight at the Central Secretariat Metro Station. The Ministry of Defence will reimburse the cost of these coupons (tickets) to DMRC.
To ensure smooth crowd management, regular announcements will be made inside the metro trains, informing passengers of their designated stations. This initiative is geared towards promoting greater use of public transport, aiming to alleviate the anticipated congestion on roads during Republic Day ceremonial activities.
Guidelines for DTC Buses
New traffic arrangements for the Republic Day parade on January 26 have been proposed by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). According to the updated guidelines, no traffic will be permitted on Vijay Chowk, Rajpath, India Gate, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, and Netaji Subhash Marg after 4 am.
Vehicular traffic along the Republic Day parade route will be redirected from 04:00 A.M. based on the recommendations of the traffic police. To ensure seamless bus operation during this period, DTC will implement its modified plans.
Several key diversion points, including Shanti Path-Punchsheel Marg, Vinay Marg-Samrat Hotel, and Aurbindo Marg-Lodhi Road, T-Point/Safdarjung Road on Aurbindo Marg, have been identified. Buses operating on these routes will be rerouted to maintain continuous service amidst ongoing parade preparations.
Additionally, multiple diversion points along Mathura Road - Bhairon Road T-Point, Ring Road-Sukhdev Vihar Depot, and Vikas Marg before IP Flyover / Laxmi Nagar T-Point have been established to facilitate smooth bus operations.
DTC has also arranged for buses from specific areas to conclude their routes at designated points such as the roundabout at Kamla Market, ISBT, and Park Street Road-Mandir Marg, among others.
Specific instructions have been provided for bus services originating from Dhaula-Kuan near the police post and those originating from Shanker Road. These areas will follow re-routed paths to reach their assigned destinations.
To ensure commuter convenience and effective implementation of the traffic advisory, a substantial number of Traffic Supervisory Staff will be deployed by DTC at crucial diversion points.
