Remove Chidambaram from home ministry committee says Swamy
Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy has sought the removal of P Chidambaram from the post of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Home Ministry. Swamy says that Chidambaram's name has cropped up in the Ishrat Jahan and Aircel Maxis cases.

In the view of this it is an apparent and obvious case of conflict of interest for Chidambaram, since being the chairman of the standing committee would entail his interaction with those officers of the Home Ministry who are directly or indirectly involved in prosecuting him, the letter also stated.
Swamy further wrote that it would be appropriate for Chidambaram to step down down from the chairmanship of the standing committee of the home ministry to avoid miscarriage of justice in future.
