Cauvery row: Release 3,000 cusecs a day for 10 more days, committee tells Karnataka
In what could mean further trouble in the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the Cauvery Water Supervisory Committee has directed Karnataka to release 3,000 cusecs of water a day to Tamil Nadu from September 21 to 30.
The supervisory committee, which heard out both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, directed the former to release the water for ten days starting September 21.

On Tuesday, when the matter comes up before the Supreme Court, the order of the committee is likely to be ratified.
Officials said that after the committee will meet again after the 10-day period and determine on the future release of water, depending on inflow of water into Karnataka's reservoirs
at the time.
Union Water Secretary Shashi Shekhar, who chaired Monday's meeting, said his order is applicable between September 21 and 30. He also said that neither Karnataka nor Tamil Nadu agreed with his order.
