Ready For Narco Test If Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia Take It Too: WFI Chief

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chief and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Sunday said he was ready for the polygraph test if the same test is conducted on protesting wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia.

"I am ready to get my narco test, polygraphy test or lie detector done but my condition is that along with me Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia should also undergo these tests. If both the wrestlers are ready to get their test done, then call the press and announce and I promise them that I am also ready for this," he wrote in a Facebook post.

Earlier in the day, the WFI chief, who is also a BJP MP from Kaiserganj, said he wanted to retire from politics in 2014 but dropped his plans over the insistence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. "I wanted to retire from politics in 2014 itself. But Amit Shah during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections did not allow me to do that," he said.

Many wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23 demanding the arrest of the BJP MP and his sacking from the post following the allegations of sexual harassment made by seven wrestlers. On May 19, the grapplers had marched from Jantar Mantar to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in New Delhi on their 25th day of protest.

However, two separate FIRs were registered on April 28 following the Supreme Court's notice to Delhi Police into the plea filed by the wrestlers.

On the other hand, the khap 'mahapanchayat' on Sunday decided that the women supporting the protest against Singh will hold a panchayat before the new Parliament building on May 28, the day it will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"They have taken four decisions. The women's panchayat will be held right before the Parliament building on May 28. On May 23 we will hold a candlelight march from Jantar Mantar to India Gate. The Mahapanchayat reiterated its demand of the arrest of the arrest of Brij Bhushan and it was promised that on wrestlers' call, khaps would reach the protest site within five hours of the call," PTI quoted Punia as saying.
