Ratan Tata Funeral Date And Timings: Find Out Here

The mortal remains of veteran industrialist Ratan Tata will be available for public viewing on Thursday at 10:30 am at the NCPA Lawns, Nariman Point, Mumbai, allowing the public to pay their final respects.

According to a statement from Tata Trust, the final journey will begin at 4 pm. "We will request the members of the public to enter NCPA Lawns from Gate 3 and the exit will be at Gate 2. There will be no parking available at the premises. At 4 pm, the mortal remains will embark on its final journey to the Prayer Hall at the Worli Crematorium, Dr E Moses Road, Worli for the final rites," the statement said.

Preparations are in full swing at NCPA, Nariman Point, as Ratan Tata's remains will be brought there before the last rites.

Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at the age of 86 on Wednesday.

Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Ratan Tata was the Chairman of Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two of India's largest philanthropic trusts. He served as Chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 until his retirement in 2012, later becoming Chairman Emeritus. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor, in 2008 for his contributions to industry and philanthropy.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the final rites of Tata. Many ministers including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will be attending the funeral.

The Maharashtra government has announced that Ratan Tata's funeral will be conducted with full state honors and also declared a one-day mourning period in his honor.
An official statement from the Chief Minister's Office confirmed that all government buildings will fly the national flag at half-mast, and no cultural or entertainment programs will take place.

The Marine Drive road has been closed beyond the Oberoi hotel as police cordon off the area leading to NCPA Lawns.
