Weeks after the nation was shocked by the incident, the investigation into the deepfake video involving Rashmika Mandanna appears to have not made much progress, with the Delhi Police still lacking significant leads. According to sources cited by India Today, Meta is not actively cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Rashmikas Deepfake Video: No Leads Yet, Meta Not Cooperating In Probe, Says A Report

The viral video showed a woman dressed in a black workout onesie inside an elevator. Her face was edited using AI to resemble Mandanna.

Sources further revealed that the accused deleted their account and wiped all associated data. It was revealed that the individual utilized a fake identity and a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for the account. It is crucial for the officers to find information related to the case from Meta to draw conclusions.

However, the Delhi Police on Thursday said they have got vital clues in their probe and are verifying them through technical analysis. As part of technical analysis, officials are identifying all the IP addresses from where the video was uploaded and are trying to trace the address from where the video was first uploaded on the internet, PTI reported citing an official.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO, Special Cell) Hemant Tiwari said they have got important clues and the accused will be arrested soon.

The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of Delhi Police on November 11, had registered an FIR against unidentified people in connection with the case after the Delhi Commission for Women sent a notice to the city police.

The controversy has come as a shock to the nation with the government terming deepfakes as a new threat to democracy
